Talking Temporics, Gebser on Integral Life

A little synchronicity happened to me the other day. Corey W. Devos, of Integral Life, posted about a livestream happening at the top of the hour.

The subject matter was concerning time, featuring Dr. Keith Witt, and so being something of a Gebserian (wink-nod), of course my interest was peaked. I joined the Zoom call.

It was after 5 p.m. here on the gulf, so I thought sure, why not, my wife and I have time before dinner.

Corey happened to see me in the attendee list and promptly invited me to participate in the call. I did, coming up towards the end of the hour, and I have to say it was a very pleasant exchange. It also happened to occur on the same evening I was preparing to launch the new integral course.

I appreciated Corey taking the time to read Gebser’s own words from Ever-Present Origin, difficult yet rewarding as they are to unpack, and Dr. Keith’s warm exchange and receptivity to the principle of diaphany.

As Gebser says, timing is knowing when to make happen and when to let happen.

It’s looking like I’ll be returning to Integral Life for more collaborations on Gebser, temporics, and cultural phenomenology—sometime in the near future! I’m very much looking forward to it and must thank Corey once again for the kind invitation. Until then.

Integral Imprint: Books that open the future
“Matt Segall is one of the most interesting philosophers to emerge in recent years in the study of Whitehead, and, perhaps even more excitingly, of Schelling. Segall’s integrative study of these two philosophers makes yet another contribution to the burgeoning project of revitalizing an alternative organic approach to natural science and theology. While in no sense sacrificing intellectual rigour, he moves beyond the limitations of a purely analytical approach to demonstrate the importance of embodied experience and imagination in the effort to understand the nature of the world and of ourselves.”

–Iain McGilchrist, psychiatrist and author of The Master and His Emissary (2009) and The Matter with Things (2021)

Coming home to books is one of the best feelings!

Both feature @jdj_writes - one as the author, the other as the editor. Might not get to them for a couple weeks/months, but can't wait to dive in. Thanks @revelorepress they look great! pic.twitter.com/xPAmYSBiUM
